Baird to UN: Are you kidding me?

The Times of Israel reported this week:

A United Nations agency that last week found rockets in a Gaza school operating under its auspices has handed that weaponry over to Hamas, Israeli officials said Sunday, accusing the organization of actively helping the terrorist organization potentially attack Israeli civilians.

“The rockets were passed on to the government authorities in Gaza, which is Hamas. In other words, UNRWA handed to Hamas rockets that could well be shot at Israel,” a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel.

Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird responded:

“I was appalled to hear reports, one as recent as today, of stockpiles of rockets in a school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in Gaza.

“Even more alarming were reports that in the first case, officials with the United Nations returned these weapons to Hamas, a listed terrorist organization, once Israeli officials discovered their location.

“Canada unequivocally calls on the United Nations to launch an immediate independent investigation to determine the facts surrounding these reports. Canada also calls on the United Nations to ensure that in the second case, no rockets are returned to Hamas.

“Anything less than an independent investigation would be absolutely unacceptable.

“If proven true, this would fly in the face of all that the United Nations should stand for as an institution committed to the peace and security of its members.”

Article 1 of the Charter of the United Nations states that the UN’s purpose is to “…maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace.”

  1. how about he requests an independent investigation in the shelling of a UN school in Gaza that killed tens of innocents????? IS HE KIDDING ME!!!! anyone remembers Qana in Lebanon. just google it, more than a 100 died in a UN school attacked by Israel. all “INDEPENDENT” investigations proved their were no weapons or rockets, Israel targeted on purpose. It’s not the first time they do it and it won’t be the last time. they attack civilians on purpose and kill as many as they can. i know because i lived through a half dozen of their wars against Lebanon and i’ve seen first hand that they attack areas with no militants presence in. they bomb and shell indiscriminately, killing as much civilians as they can.

    1. And the Palestinians and the Lebanese don’t? Come on quit starting these wars and ALL problems will end. The best thing that can be done is these terrorist organizations (Hamas & Hezbellah) be destroyed. Peace will then return.

  2. The UN is a useless organization that has failed miserably to fulfill it’s mandate of peaceful intervention in world conflicts.
The UN failed in Korea, failed to protect Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland from a Russian invasion after the leaders of those countries begged for help. They failed in Vietnam and they have failed Africa.

They do however, have a clever bunch in HR. What a stroke of genius to make Robert [kill all the whites] Mugabe their tourism ambassador.
Meanwhile, those clever wags at the UN let Hamas terrorists hide rockets in a UN run school in Gaza. “Say, is that a rocket in your pocket or are you just happy to see me”?

  3. I request that my government stops all aid to Israel until they stop killing ridiculously high numbers of women and children.
