Harper's Asia Tour: Day 2 Itinerary

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is in the Indian capital of New Delhi today as part of his six-day tour of the country. His itinerary includes a mix of cultural, business and political events.

I’m part among the group of journalists covering the PM’s tour. It’s just 8 a.m. as I post today’s itinerary for the PM. Today, it’s all about Indian politics.

  • 0800: Prime Minister Harper is officially welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of the Republic of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
  • 0930: Prime Minister Harper pays his respects to the “Father of Nation” at Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi
  • 1015: Prime Minister Harper meets with India’s Minister of External Affairs Preneet Kaur.
  • 1200: Prime Minister Harper returns to Rashtrapati Bhavan for a meeting with President Mukherjee
  • 1600: Prime Minister Harper meets with Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha
  • 1700: Prime Minister Harper meets with Mohammad Hamid Ansari, vice-president of the Republic of India.
  • 1830: Prime Minister Harper meets with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
  • 1930: Prime Ministers Harper and Singh participate in signing ceremony followed by media statements.
