Prime Minister Stephen Harper has firmed up his itinerary for travel next week in Asia, announcing Wednesday that he will stop in the Philippines and Hong Kong.

I’ll be among a large group of reporters from the Parliamentary Press Gallery tagging along to cover the trip.

Harper will begin his trip in India, arriving in Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, on Sunday, before spending a couple of days in Delhi.

This will be the second time Harper has travelled to India. Just as it was during his first trip, Harper is expected to focus on fostering stronger commercial and cultural ties with the world’s largest democracy.

In Delhi, he is expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and speak at a World Economic Forum conference.

After Delhi, he’ll visit Chandigarh, the heart of the Punjab and the centre of the world’s Sikh community. From there, he’ll travel to southern India to Bangalore.

From there, Harper will head to Manila, where he’ll meet Philippines President Benigno Aquino.

He finishes his week in Asia in Hong Kong on Nov. 11. There, he will mark Canada’s Remembrance Day at a ceremony at the Sai Wan Cemetery, the resting place of hundreds of Canadians killed defending Hong Kong during the Second World War.

This will be Harper’s second visit to Hong Kong. He was first there in late 2009.

  1. I know the answer to this one but ‘I sometimes wonder why PM Harper is wasting his time seeking to business with other countries other than USA’.

The liberals still owe 40 million dollars which they took from the public which they refuse to repay,
There are liberals mps who still owe thousands of dollars in loans to the Elections Canada which they still have not returned nor imo intent on doing nor will the media dare go after them on this case.
