  1. David, one thing you can be sure of. The Native “Leaders” who espouse blockades and violence…are NOT looking out for the needs of their people.

I’m sure there is a direct correlation between the hostility of certain native “leaders” and the amount of corruption they are involved in. One simply has to look at Chief Spence. Native leaders aren’t worried that their people are suffering…they’re worried that their people will discover that they are suffering because their “chiefs” have been robbing them blind. (think animal Farm)

The chiefs calling for “action” are probably the Chiefs most afraid of opening the books to scrutiny.

  2. I find this issue laughable. The FN people I see protesting are wearing name brand clothing my family can not afford. Maybe if they were not buying $100.00 hoodies and t-shirts, or three and four hundred dollar outerwear they could afford food. My clothing did not cost that much and it is good for up to -50 degrees so the argument that they need expensive clothing for their harsh conditions does not apply.

Every right we give to the FN to shut them up, is one more of our own rights that we are giving away. NO MORE. Clean up your finances, come to the table with real numbers taken from your own books and we will talk, but until then do me a favour and shut the F* up I am so tired of your bellyaching and whining. Hold your own accountable for their lying, cheating and stealing from you, prosecution included and I will be glad to support you. First however, SHOW ME WHERE THE MONEY YOU ALREADY GOT WENT!!!!!!
I have seen kindergarden sandbox fights that had more value than this issue at this time.
We must also remember that the Idle No More movment withdrew it’s involvment in this situation as their own vision and purpose has been overshadowed by the FN whining.

  3. Such utter rubbish. Racist too.

I worked with First nations for a few years, 40 years ago. James Halifax would howl like a banshee if he had to live like that, and nothing has changed in 40 years.

    James Halifax should also do 2 other things;
    1) read some real Canadian history. He might get a shock.
    2) go live in Attawapiskat for a year and help the people,
and try to give your mouth a rest. Listening is good for the soul.
    You might even learn something.

Now that would be really revolutionary!!!

  4. greedy whites, again it’s whites that are causing all their problems. When I go to work, an east indian has a better job and owns a gas bar

  5. Poverty is common around the world.
Poverty does not include slovenly behaviours laziness does. Refugee camps are not covered in litter as are the reserves we see on TV. Poor people are not slobs with litter everywhere.
Where has their pride gone to have litter everywhere. This is how the natives are going to look after the Earth as they say is their job?
Who is going to clean up this mess? The whiteman’s tax dollars again.
It is beyond time for tough love to come into effect.
I think we cannot afford to be bleeding hearts any longer.
We taxpayers are being suckered and I for one am done being suckered. Send an email to Harper and tell him WE are not going to sit and continue being the slaves for the natives. NO MORE discrimination against taxpaying White Canadians.
All Canadians should be treated fairly and equally with no special benifits that you do not work for.

  6. I really take offence to the comments about natives on here, there are the few that do not want to help themselves, however the majority of us do work and work hard I will add. There is far to much racist tension in the world, and just as many white people that are lazy freeloaders. And lastly we are not the same as east indians.

  7. As far as freeloaders, the next time you pay your mortgage tell them you’re tired of those banks getting “handouts”. Go read a dozen books on the Aboriginals and I dare any one of you to go live on a reserve with all your relatives. Also, be sure to volunteer your children up to the priests since you think it’s easy being Aboriginal. Make sure you work and pay taxes so the ignorants out there can say you don’t pay taxes.

  8. When everything is handed to you on a Golden Plate, after a while you want the Golden Plate as well.
    Good Luck !

  9. People are saying that the Attawapiskat Audit results are distracting away from the Idle No More movement. Ever think that Theresa Spence new that the day was coming when the audit would be made public, so she decided to start a hunger strike to distract people away from her corruptness and feel pity for her while at the same time sparking interest in the movement? Pictures of delapidated houses in Attawapiskat is alarming. Many of the families from Attawapiskat and Kashechewan who were working at DeBeers, have money to move to Timmins, but once they get here, and the entire extended family moves in, the apartments that they rent in Schumacher, ON are left looking just like the houses they left in Attawapiskat. You will find many boarded up apartment buildings only because they were trashed, had fires in them, were condemned by the City because of poor conditions, the result of negligent tenants. The streets are over run at night by native youth gangs looking for something to do. They don’t work, most youth don’t even attend highschool on a regular basis because they don’t feel like it. Their parents moved them to the City for a better life, but they don’t do anything to help themselves. I know that this is a small percentage of the natives living off reserve, that leave us with these negative opinions. It can’t be helped. Our once quiet, clean town has been transformed into one of Canada’s largest off-reserve native populations. Idle no more? That would be awesome. There are many jobs to be filled in Timmins.

  10. ” greedy whites ” hmm… Racism double standard? This is all part of the ( no accountability mentality ) our society has developed. It is sad that people are suffering on reserves but ask yourself objectively who’s fault is this. Who is oppressing them. Who is holding the gun to their head and forcing them to live in third world conditions. Life is difficult there may be tremendous obstacles in our way but it all comes down to choice. Personal choice is why we all are where we are today. Stop vilifying others and choose to better your own life. Quit waiting for someone else’s to solve life’s problems. This goes for all colours and nationalities. Think for yourself and work toward improving your own lot in life.

Janet, that’s part of the problem. YOU worked on a first Nations reserve 40 years ago. I’m sure a lot has changed in that time, but one think has not. It should be first nations people working on the reserve…not you.

Lastly Janet Collins…….one simply has to look at the audit conducted on the reserve to see where the problem is. Crooked leadership that would prefer to feather its own nest, as opposed to ensuring a roof is over the heads of their own people. Let’s stop throwing good money after the bad.

Ask yourself. How many houses could have been built with the money Chief Spence has squandered?

That is the first question that needs to be asked.

  12. It’s amazing how people who are so poor and don’t have decent housing can also have Big Screen TV’s, ATV’s, and Expensive Trucks. Maybe it’s not so much about being poor as it is about poor money management. Also a good point is how come no matter where they are Natives destroy everything around them like in Caledon or the Center they took over in Brantford I believe it was. I also remember Natives up North throwing good fish in the dump just so White people wouldn’t get them.

  13. Its Not About all the Whining, Comparing, Complaining, and Stated ingnorace I have read on this page…Its All ABOUT OUR CANADIAN LANDS AND WATER…IDLE NO MORE…is about YOU your CHILDREN and YOUR FUTURE…so get off your lazy butts and stop this stupidity. Our environment is in danger of further devistating effects caused by the polution which will destroy CANADA as you know it.

  14. Living in Saskatchewan, we have many reserves. I have had the opportunity to drive through some of them. One close by, has a relatively new hockey rink. It looks like vehicles have driven through one end to the other. Shot gun blasts to the walls, windows smashed out now left abandoned. I also know a number of construction companies that have been commissioned to build houses on these reserves, only to have to return 1-2 years later to build another one or totally repair for the same families. All the time being heckled from the owners sitting in chairs enjoying a beverage or 2. I am the furthest from a raciest that you can get. I have friends of all colors, and good friends that live on the reserves. BTW .. I am a white taxpayer. I do agree that conditions on Reserves is well below par, BUT when you are given a house by the government and then within a year or 2 its destroyed, doors ripped off holes cut in wall so your horse can drink out of your sink. Something needs to change. It wont be an overnight change. My wife and I lived in a larger center and would shop in certain urban areas, and would be “greeted” on numerous occasions with “keep working whitey so I don’t have to”. Yes I work and I work hard to provide for my family and have never received a handout from ANYONE! Times do need to change … entitlement from something that happened a long time ago has to stop. Its funny … there are a number of FN ONLY schools around Canada … What if there was a post secondary school made that said Caucasians only ? FN people are not any more special than the rest of us in this FREE land we have! – My 2 cents
