Here they go again: Conservatives begin 2014 with fundraising push

According to an e-mail circulated by the Conservative Party of Canada to its supporters over the signature of Minister of State Candice Bergen, the party’s executive director Dimitri Soudas is going to brief the Prime Minister Monday on the the party’s so-called Start 2014 Strong campaign. Among other things, the party set a goal of adding 29,000 “supporters” in one week and, again according to Bergen’s e-mail, the party met that goal.

Here’s the full-text of the “Bergen” e-mail which had the subject line: “Last Chance”

Friend,

This is your last chance to be a part of something special.

When we launched our Start 2014 Strong campaign, we set a goal of adding 20,000 supporters in one week.

Thanks to the incredible support of Canadians, we’ve already met that goal.

Our Executive Director, Dimitri, is going to be sharing the good news with the Prime Minister tomorrow.

If you want to be on that list, you need to add your name right now:

Campaign Deadline: Today, at midnight.
Suggested Action: Be a part of our campaign – add your name today.

Sincerely,

Candice Bergen
MP, Portage-Lisgar

This e-mail follows one over the name of Treasury Board President Tony Clement who has a dire warning about a government not run by his party:

Friend,

I know you get a lot of e-mails from our Party. Here’s why:

I know you care about our country – and our future.

Canada has the best economy in the G7 – something we should be proud of.

But the Liberals and NDP would take our economy off track – their dangerous ideas and vacuous thinking would reverse the progress we’ve made.

Every day between now and the next election matters. Our opponents won’t stop working – and neither can we.

I need your help, today.

We need to meet our goal of adding 20,000 new supporters – and your name needs to be on this list.

Campaign Deadline: Midnight, January 26, 2014
Suggested Action: Be a part of our campaign – add your name today.

I’m counting on you – let’s do this.

Sincerely,

Tony Clement
MP, Parry-Sound Muskoka

  1. It is amazing to me that there are still people who believe anything that the Harper conservatives tell them.
When they took over from the Liberals we had a balanced budget, now we are $616,000,000,000.00 Billion in debt. How dare they say our economy is in great shape. They tell us they need to cut costs to try balancing the budget, only because (they) wasted so much, they don’t have any money for us Canadians but when it comes to other countries they can come up with $166,000,000.00 million and this only January, why is that?
