The first “ballot question” poll taken after the writ was dropped in the Alberta provincial election is published today in the Calgary and Edmonton Suns. The results are remarkable, showing Danielle Smith’s Wildrose Party on the road to a strong majority, with 41 per cent support among those polled. Alison Redford’s Progressive Conservative Party are back at 31 per cent.

The poll today is from Forum Research. It follows one from Abacus Data which we published on March 13 which showed the Progressive Conservatives with five-point lead:
In the meantime, the Postmedia papers in Alberta have a Leger poll out today which compares Smith to Redford:
A new poll ranking provincial party leaders shows Albertans favour Premier Alison Redford’s competency and ability to represent the province abroad, while Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith is considered the most likable.
At least Danielle is not making this an issues-free campaign.
Imagine what happens when both Wildrose and the Tories end up with the majority of seats divded amongst themselves?
Coalition government or will they send Albertans back to the polls at the soonest opportunity.
