Prime Minister Stephen Harper gave a surprising rock concert this evening with this band Herringbone. They did a 30-minute five-song set to open the Conservative caucus Christmas party at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Ottawa.
Laureen Harper took the stage to welcome guests, to thank staff and spouses for their sacrifice for the Conservative cause and then …
The cover of Neil Diamond's “Sweet Caroline” was followed by a tune from the Scottish twins The Proclaimers.
After that, it was time for Harper to get off the piano and do his best Roger Daltrey with The Who's “The Seeker”:
The set closed with a classic from The Guess Who
Conservative staffer Colin McSweeney eggs the crowd on into bringing Herringbone back for an encore. McSweeney introduces the band who then goes with a cover of the Rolling Stones' “Jumpin' Jack Flash”
He's no Bill Clinton on the Sax, but hey, that's pretty awesome
An agility of mind. An ability to rise to any occasion. What a gift! AND 'they' said he had no personality???
Meanwhile the Liberals are complaining he only sang English language songs. No wonder they're irrelevant outside of downtown Toronto and Montreal.
Whoa our PM can get up and get down with the best of them . . . well almost! I think this man could sell tickets to a concert should he decide to put one on, hahaha!
He can even sing a little bit – who’da thunk – entertaining anyway! There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth in the opposition benches as the “party faithful” look at their respective leaders and with woebegone eyes ask “and what is your best trick”? To which their man will be able to respond with only a weak gesture of raised, limp hands and shrugging shoulders reply . . . whatever have we done to Christmas?
HAPPY HOLIDAYS . . .
out of tune… symbolic, perhaps….
Thank God he's not Bill Clinton (:-) This shows that our PM and “Herringbone” members can just have fun when they are not doing business. That makes me proud of them. No they are not perfect. What did you expect, YOU aren't either! Nor am I! So hey we aren't looking for gods are we? Just good politicians who care about the Canadian people and can have fun (:-)
How cool is it to have a Prime Minister that can perform like this? Next time my daughter complains about piano practicing, I can point to Stephen Harper. I bet he's glad that his parents didn't let him quit piano! Way to go Steve!
It is refreshing that after all these years we have such a great Prime Minister in Stephen J Harper. With a minority government, Harper has accomplished more than any Liberal PM ever did or promised they would do.
Merry Christmas

VERY COOL . WAY TO GO , PM !
Chapeau Mister Harper
If he was not the prime minister, who would listen to this crap.
