7-03-13 Resolution on a Constitutional Amendment
WHEREAS the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are so different in their history, economy and politics that it is a detriment to the party to not have representation from all three Provinces on the executive, and
WHEREAS the NDP, wanting to form government, will need to grow and win seats in the west, the party will need to understand the differences of each Province, and
BE IT RESOLVED that Article VII Section 3(a) of the constitution be amended by striking the word “ten” and replacing it with the word “eleven”, further amended by striking the words “shall be”, “the Prairie Provinces” and “Each region”, and further amended by adding the sentence “The regions defined as:
Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba shall each receive one representative. Gender parity will be respected within each of these regions.” after the word “woman”.

Article VII. Executive
3. (a) ten regional representatives. For the purpose of representation on Executive and Council, the regions shall be defined as; British Columbia, the Prairie Provinces, Ontario, Québec and the Atlantic provinces. Each region shall be entitled to two representatives, at least one of whom will be a woman.
Each region shall elect these representatives at a Caucus of delegates from the said region, and submit them to Convention for ratification;

For the purpose of representation on Executive and Council, the regions defined as: British Columbia, Ontario, Québec and the Atlantic provinces shall be entitled to two representatives, at least one of whom will be a woman. The regions defined as: Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba shall each receive one representative. Gender parity will be respected within each of these regions.
