Two ‘ifs’: IF The Harper government brings in a scheme to allow couples with children under the age of 18 to transfer up to $50,000 of taxable income to the other spouse for purposes of income splitting at tax time and IF Justin Trudeau forms a government next fall; Trudeau will undo Harper’s income splitting scheme. Statement just out from Trudeau spox Kate Purchase:
The Conservatives’ income splitting plan favours the wealthy, encourages women to leave the workforce, is bad for growth, and is bad for the middle class. No wonder the Conservatives like income splitting so much.
As the Parliamentary Budget Officer, C.D. Howe Institute, and Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives have all pointed out, income splitting will only benefit a slim minority of Canadians.
It should come as no surprise that Liberals will oppose this policy that would do nothing for struggling middle class families.
MR. TRUDEAU, has Not got it through his head, that high
income, high taxed people have been taxed to death for
years,, high income equals HARD WORK, LONG HOURS,
EXTENDED STAYS AWAY FROM FAMILY,, WORK STRESS
ETC. ETC,, AND at the end of the day all of those peoples
efforts mean nothing because there reward is paying
outragous tax,s,, the minute someone says lets give these
people some tax relief you have the great debate on who
is going to get a benefit and who is not,, i laugh at the
new defination of WHO ARE THE RICH,, if i make $1,000.00 a year more than my neighbour he would say
i am rich,,a typical Canadian opinion,, everyone these
days is jealous of the other people,, if i worked overtime
and my friend next door refused should i at the end of
the day be required to pay more tax,s,,, give those who
work LONG AND HARD SOM CREDIT AT TAX TIME, THAT IS EQUALITY…
