Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Reform Party founder Preston Manning will receive Canada’s highest civilian honour — The Companion of the Order of Canada — at a special Canada Day ceremony to be presided over by Governor General Michaëlle Jean.
Also of some note, Canadian golfer Mike Weir is among the new members of the Order.
Madame Jean announced 71 appointments to the Order of Canada, including seven Companions, 17 Officers, and 47 members.
