Foreign Minister John Baird will lead an official delegation to Ukraine later this week. As the government said, the delegation will include community leaders and Parliamentarians but, as we learned today, none of those Parliamentarians will be New Democrats or Liberals. How come, we asked Jason MacDonald, the communication director for Prime Minister Stephen Harper. His answer:
This is a Government mission, which consists of senior government representatives and representatives from the Ukrainian – Canadian community, to provide support to Ukraine at this very fragile time.
This is not a laughing matter. Mr. Trudeau’s comments about Russia and Ukraine were neither helpful nor did they contribute positively to Canada’s efforts to assist the Ukrainian people, and as a result there’s no role for the Liberals in this Government mission.
The NDP wouldn’t pick a side, unlike our Government, which has been steadfast in its support for the Ukrainian people. Until they decide on what they stand for they, like the Liberals, shouldn’t be a part of the Government delegation.
Well I guess when @CPC_HQ and @PMHarper have been unceremoniously booted from office they’ll be included in nothing since “yeah, you had all those years in office and you’re out now – obviously you’re more useless than ever”.
Will Mr Baird be hoisting the rainbow flag to further slap the Russian Bear?
Funny how they will fly the pride flag, for support, so where is the flag for Ukraine, i just don’t get the insane thinking of some politicians. Here in Calgary Mr Nenshi went against city policy and flew the pride Flag at city hall. His reasoning came from his twitter account and he said that it is the right thing to do. well Mr. Nenshi we are waiting.
Some people in the PMO, as well as some CPC MP’s, are going to need serious de-programming if CPC loses, before they can be allowed into the general population.
OK, I take it there are 2 sides, Steve.
1) “The Ukrainian people”
2) ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
What is side 2 you figure the NDP are considering?
Were I the communications director, I would have responded:
“We would have welcomed members of the opposition parties to be part of the Canadian delegation. However, given the many instances when members of the opposition have gone abroad to discredit Canada’s reputation on the world stage for partisan gain, we thought it best to avoid the possibility of similar attacks on Canada’s reputation. The Ukrainian situation, like other conflicts, is best served by a united Canadian perspective, not a partisan one.”
But since I’m not …
The Liberal under JT have proven themselves to be such an embarassment, you really can’t take them anywhere.
